Poster display

Making a poster in small teams encourages students to think about, discuss and explain how the ideas and resources explored through Dev Ed week can be used in a real classroom or school situation.

Displaying the poster allows peers and others to examine the ideas in some detail and to evaluate the practical implications of carrying them out.

Your task:

Working in small subject-based teams of 3 or 4 PDE students create a poster to explain and illustrate a lesson plan or activity or school-based event or project idea.

Your team’s poster should include the following headings:

  • The subject
  • The curricular link (what element of the syllabus for your subject is the idea linked to?)
  • The age group of pupils (a class group; a whole year group; more than one class or year?)
  • A description of the idea – in words and/or images
  • The time required to conduct the activity/event/project
  • A list of the resources needed

The finished poster or discussion of it should demonstrate that the idea will:

  • engage pupils in active learning
  • integrate development themes
  • ensure pupils gain an understanding of issues of social justice and sustainable development (locally and/or globally).

Award for the best poster! Students will vote for what they consider to be the best poster and a prize (details to be announced) will be awarded to the team with the most popular votes.  Strictly no canvassing!

The winning team/s will be announced in the final session on Thursday.
